Safe Running and Product Review: SiliconDevices Bluetooth Earbuds

I am all about safety when running. I’m not just talking about night runs, either. Runners need to keep an eagle eye on traffic. ALWAYS run facing traffic unless it is unsafe for you to do so, then, cross back over as soon as you are able. With people texting on their phones more and more, they may not see you until they have drifted out of their lane, and then it’s too late. Where I live, we have a large elderly population. I have found that I have to watch very carefully as their peripheral vision is not always good. They don’t see you on the side of the road, so they don’t realize how close they are when passing by you. More than once I have had to almost jump over a guardrail to avoid being hit.

Many of us runners like to listen to music when running. I think it is extremely dangerous to be wearing headphones/earbuds when running on a road. You have no idea of what is coming up behind you, nor can you hear traffic sounds like sirens, etc until they are right upon you. For myself, I either only wear ONE earbud, or my phone is playing from inside my flipbelt. That is a better alternative for me, as I run in a high traffic area. Makes it hard to hear the music though, with all the cars buzzing by. #SiliconDevices

I received some Bluetooth earbuds from SiliconDevices for free, in exchange for a review. I am choosing to give my honest opinion on these as I know there are tons of these products on the market. When these arrive, they come in a nice zippered square pouch container. This keeps them from being crushed and makes it easier to carry them around in a purse etc. They also came with extra ear bud parts so that you can have a custom fit. I didn’t have to change them out at all. They fit right away for me. The directions are easy to read, and they connected to my iphone Bluetooth just fine. There is even a little clip to attach the cord to your shirt when running. I find this useful since I only wear one, for safety reasons. The cool thing about these is that they sync with your phone too. You can hear if your phone is ringing. There’s even a microphone, though I have not tested that part out.

I found this item extremely easy to use and for once I am not getting my hands caught in the cord when I am running. When biking, I found I had to fasten my helmet first, then put in the earbud. I didn’t have to turn it up very loud to hear the music either way, though I could have by just touching the button on the side.

Seriously, for the price of these on Amazon, you can’t go wrong! I plan on getting a second pair to keep in my purse, and the other pair will stay with my running supplies. So obviously, the answer to my question, “ Would I purchase this product on my own?” is, ABSOLUTELY YES!  You can find this product on AMAZON.   You can read all about them there! Go take a look 🙂
