I think one of the biggest surprises to a lot of people is the fact that Meb Keflezighi is sponsored by the Skechers Performance Division, which is quickly becoming very popular. Most people can’t get past the “shape-up” shoes that Skechers had a while ago. My friend, you are missing out on a fantastic shoe if you don’t take a look at these!
In my previous post Skechers Running Shoes Review I talk a little about some of the different shoes in the Performance line-up. There is one shoe however, that I didn’t talk about, as I have reserved that for this post.
Skechers GOmeb Speed 2
This shoe was made for Meb to race in. He worked closely with the design team to perfect a shoe to his exact preferences for the 26.2 mile distance.  He won Boston this year in Version 3 of the Speeds, which have not been released yet. I have a pair of version 2 and  am currently a brand Ambassador for  the New England Division of Skechers Performance.  I am sent various shoes to review and post my thoughts on, both publicly and to Skechers directly. When I was sent the GoMeb Speed2, I was VERY excited to try them. I normally run in the GOrun 3 or GObionic 2.
Firm responsive ride with good energy return.
Midfoot support from the Dupont Hytrel stability plate. Allows for faster transition to toe off.
Men’s size 9 weighs only 6.8 oz.
4mm heel to toe drop.
Seamless upper, printed overlays.
Firm mesh that hugs the foot.
Resalyte midsole that helps to absorb impact.
M-Strike technology helps promote a midfoot strike.
Seamless interior with microfiber lining.
Note: This shoe, since it was designed for Meb’s feet, is slightly narrower than the GOrun 3 or GObionic2.

  1. i havent tried sketchers running shoes just because i havent seen them where i shop

  2. Carrie says:

I have not tried them. Never really thought of them as a running shoes

  3. Jennifer says:

I have not,but would love to give them a try!

  4. I’ve never tried a pair of Skechers. I know people that have that love them. I guess I’ve not had them at the forefront when I am thinking of the next pair of shoes I want to get/try.

  5. I’ve purchased 3 pairs of them but have never worn them out the door. I have always returned them. I’m a bit timid of the minimalism.

  6. Lisa says:

I tried a pair of the GoRuns in a store but decided to stick with a traditional 12mm drop shoe because I’ve been battling injuries and don’t want to change to more minimal yet.

  7. Tammy George says:

I am a newbie to running. I went and got a gait study done. I found out my shoes were wrong for me. I have never tried this shoes. I have heard about them.

  8. Lauren S says:

I’ve never run in Sketchers. I have always run in Brooks so I haven’t really strayed away. Meb and Kara Goucher being Sketchers runners is changing my mind though!

  9. I’ve never tried Skechers. I don’t think they’re carried at RR Sports.

  10. I have run in sketchers… but not in these… they look fabulous!

  11. Tami says:

I’ve never tried Skechers before. I think in the back of my kind, I still think of the old shape ups. I really don’t see enough ads for them and reviews. But if they’re good enough for Meb, I’d love to try them

  12. Amy says:

I’ve never tried them! I just got injured wearing my Brooks, so maybe I should try something new!!

  13. Michele P. says:

I have never seen these before, and while I’ve tried Skechers regular shoes/sneakers the running shoes are definitely worth checking out however first I have to see if I can find them in my area!

  14. Jessica Chen says:

I love Skechers! Bought my first pair of GR3s last fall and never looked back. Also have a pair of GMs and GRTs. 🙂

  15. Jim in Maine says:

I previuosly won a pair of Skechers via your Blog and highly doubt that I will get so lucky twice in a row. But I do enjoy the Go Run 3 and figure it can’t hurt to try again!

  16. I own the GM2, the GRU and GR2 and have tested the GR3. The GM2 and the GRU are phantasmic shoes but the GR line is too baggy for me in the mid foot, especially without insole (had to remove the flimsy insole from the GR2 because it was moving around and the GR3 is no option for me with 8mm drop).

  17. I own the GM2, GRU and GR2 and have tested the GR3. Really like the GM2 and GRU but the GR line is too baggy for me in the mid foot, especially without insole (had to remove the flimsy GR2 insole because it was moving around and the GR3 is no option for me with 8mm drop).

  18. Amy Dedic says:

I guess I just haven’t gotten a chance to try them out yet!

  19. Jordan says:

The GR2 would have been my all time favorite shoe if I could’ve figured out a way to not get symmentrical blisters on both feet after every single 3+ mile run. I’d be very interested in seeing if any shoes in the new line up would give me a little better fit.

  20. Lisa Jones says:

I have never tried Skechers and probably just bc you find the one shoe that works for you and stick with it (until it doesn’t work anymore)

    • I know exactly what you are saying Lisa! However, changing it up a bit is good for the muscle memory… just like you wouldnt want to do the same exercise routine every single time… it’s good to have a couple different types of shoes to help keep the feet and ankles strong.

  21. iancarrico says:

I purchased the GoRun3 at Country Music Marathon a few weeks ago. Have ran in them a few time for short miles. Awesome shoes. Pretty soft, but something that would be good for the pounding. Surprisingly fast and super light. Wondering if you have any experience with Mizuno Wave Hitogami, and if so, how do the GoMeb 2 compare with them? Thanks!

    • Seth Hasty says:

I work for Skechers Performance and previously was at Mizuno. If you like the Hitogami then I can 100% be confident the GOmeb Speed2 will be great. It’s lighter, more responsive and just plain faster feeling!

I wore them in Boston and PR’d!

    • iancarrico says:

Thanks, Seth! Is the fit pretty similar? I’ve heard a ton how the GOmeb 2 is “narrow.” I’m like, What does that mean????

    • Seth Hasty says:

its slighty more narrow than the hitogami. nice locked in ”performance fit”

  22. Loved the GoRun 2!

  23. Dan King says:

I have not. Have had good luck with Saucony and stuck with them. Always willing to try new treads.

    • I love the Saucony Kinvara line. Those were one of my first shoes I ran in. The GOrun series of shoes is very close.. I run in my GOrun 3’s almost all the time and love them.

  24. Cassie says:

I haven’t. I actually went in to a sketchers store the other day to look at their running shoe options. I just recently changed shoes per doctors orders and am a bit weary to try to make sure I don’t hurt my foot again.

    • Cassie, depending on what you are looking for, I’m sure we have something that fits your needs. I went through a major ankle surgery and find that these shoes definitely work great for me and I have no issues at all.

  25. Leeanne says:

Haven’t run in them yet. I’ve been training for my second marathon in Mizuno Hitogami’s…really interested in checking Skechers out!

  26. I haven’t tried them, why not? I’m not really sure, I’m always hesitant to stay away from what I know works. It’s hard for me to shell out 100 bucks for shoes that I may not like.

    • Understandable… seems like most people trying this brand are sticking to them after running in them. Its also good to rotate your shoes as part of your training. I go back and forth with 3 different brands every now and then to keep my feet and ankles strong.

  27. Never tried Sketchers for running. I have a couple for cadual that I picked up at the outlets

  28. Jeff Gallup says:

I didn’t realize they were only 4mm drop… since I run minimalist it’s important. Would love to give these a go, as long as they make me fast! lol

  29. Anonymous says:

I’ll admit it, I was afraid you get what you pay for.

  30. Concordian925 says:

I haven’t used them but I have heard good things about them.

  31. Sarah Lou says:

I used to be a Nike only girl, now I run in Brooks. I have some skechers sandals and love them, these look like a good pair of runners.

  32. ltlindian says:

I haven’t either. I just bought some Brooks and need to wear those out before buying new ones.

  33. Carrie says:

    I haven’t…yet…

  34. Darlene says:

Never have. Not available where I buy shoes.
