And I’m waiting…

Today is Friday, a week after my first race. I haven’t run at all this week due to ankle pain. Back in May 2010, I had the Peroneus Brevis tendon surgically repaired. It was a long recovery. I have to be very careful when running, as my tendon was grafted against the peroneous longus tendon that runs right beside it.  Since I am two years post-op now, I thought I would share a picture of my  battle wound scar.

The swelling is worse at night, so I am still wrapping it with an ace wrap when I need to. I am heading out of town for the week, to help my father clean out our house and put it up for sale. I am going to miss the chance to run in two races this weekend. But when I think seriously, it’s not a bad thing to hang back a little more and let the ankle settle down a bit.
Do you wear you scars proudly? Or are they something you want to hide from everyone…
